This Sunday 26,000 cyclists past our house, while they were getting the 100 miles from London via Surrey back to London into their wheels. We walked up to the side of the road to cheer them on, these brave souls that were facing a tough challenge and were really going for it. All these thousands, breaking into sweat, pushing their boundaries and persevering for their own reasons. The sound of those whirling wheels, the colourful shirts and the smiles or thumps-ups that we got back from our cheering, all made me emotional.

Like………. seriously in tears.

What was that all about?

I gave it some thought and think it is about road closed 2the fact that so many people were united in a positive action, each individual having to face their own type of challenge and going for it, but moving together as a strong force.

It shows what people can do; ordinary people with busy jobs and busy lives, with state-of-the-art bikes, folding bikes and hybrids, who set their mind to a goal and were all determined to get there. I admire and salute every single one of them.

It is inspiring and shows the best of the human race.

That was what my tears were about.

I thought, I’d share it with you.
