This week I attended two Guy Folk’s Firework Nights and it was soooooo festive. The colours, the sounds, the light, the surprises exploding in the sky, truly magical.
And it seemed that everyone around me was enjoying the magic as well.

What is it about fireworks that is so mesmerizing? One possible explanation is that the light and colours are feeding our energy bodies, a bit like colour healing. Another possible explanation is that a fireworks event is very centering. When I looked around me, I noticed that not one single person around me was fiddling with his phone. Mobiles were used to take photographs, but not for anything else.  Everybody was fully ‘in the moment’, enjoying what was happening.

The multitasking habit, where we do different activities at the same time, means we don’t give our full attention to a single event and we spread ourselves really thin. In doing so, we miss out on deep, encompassing, all embracing  experiences. Not only that, we also deplete our energy levels.
By jumping and hopping in and out of situations, such enjoying a coffee (while a text message brings the energy of teenage son in), a walk in nature (cut short because you couldn’t let go of your things-to-do list), a craft activity (disturbed by a phone call), we force our mind to be flexible, but we also create more stress.
The fireworks offered the chance to fully focus on the beauty and excitement, without any disturbances and it showed that everybody felt positive, happy and energized.

It is  not complicated to learn the skill of meditation, which is at the root of  living mindfully.
